Events & Updates
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and we are kicking things off with our Paint Atlanta Purple festivities beginning on October 3-5, 2024. This year’s activities include our “Saving Survivors on the Green” charity golf tournament and “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” 5K run/1 mile walk which are designed to engage and rally the entire city around our vision to eradicate domestic violence.
Why paint the city purple? Purple is the official color of domestic violence awareness. During the month of October, we encourage all residents and businesses to stand in solidarity with survivors by wearing purple or turning your lights purple.
Join us October 3-5 as we shatter the silence, heal the wounds, and pave the way towards a future free of violence.
Dinner for Divas
Dinner for Divas honors 150 women and girls (ages 13+) who have survived the brutality of domestic abuse and who are currently residing in shelters. We celebrate the continued perseverance, strength and dedication to rebuilding their lives with a day of personalized pampering and an unforgettable evening creating memories that last a lifetime.
Tickets for Dinner for Divas on Saturday August 17, 2024 are available now.
Saving Survivors on the Green
Our annual charity golf tournament is held in support of domestic violence survivors who need assistance in meeting their most critical needs after fleeing a domestic violence incident. Join Atlanta’s top corporate leaders and golf enthusiasts for a day of fun and giving back to our community.
Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
Walk a Mile in Their Shoes host participants from across the country to advocate against domestic violence. Supporters run a 5K or walk a mile in honor or memory of someone affected by domestic violence. Those who choose to walk get paired with a survivor and have an opportunity to hear their story.
Registration for our 5k race on Saturday, October 5, 2024 is now open.
The Survivors Conference
Our annual empowerment conference targets individuals who are previous or current victims of domestic violence or sexual assault with the goal to empower them to achieve self-sufficiency while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The event includes health screenings and financial workshops in addition to meeting new faces ready with open arms to support.
